YSU STUDENTS’ NEW INITIATIVE

On January 16th with the RA Defense Ministry support and on the initiative of the Yerevan State University’s «Young YSU-its Union» series of functions started dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Armenian Army. The slogan of the functions is: «We are the Army!»

The students visited Pantheon Yerabloor (Three Hills) of warriors-liberators and lit candles in the form of the sentence: «We are the Army!»

Sociology faculty student Lianna Hovanisyan said: «I don’t have a brother who would have served in the army but I have many friends whom I take as relatives and brothers. They are fearless soldiers of our powerful and peaceful army. God help them!»

Vardan Baghdasaryan from the Economy faculty waits for his 18th anniversary to become a soldier. «Before that I’ll try to get acquainted with the army life participating in such functions», – he said.

Initiative’s participants are planning to visit border regiments of RA and NKR, organise meetings with servicemen, award the soldiers who serve honestly. The functions will be completed in December, 2012 with a solemn march.

Shoushan Stepanyan
