EXERCISES RESULTS SUMMARIZED

On October 15 RA AF GS Combat Preparation Department Head Major General Ishkhan Matevosyan, Operative Department Head Major General Artak Davtyan and RA MoD Press-Secretary Artsroun Hovanisyan met with journalists.

Press-conference’s main subject was the results of large-scale military functions: in September CSTO “Interaction-2012” exercises were conducted in Armenia, from 1-13 October – command-staff exercises where reserve servicemen were also included.

Major General A.Davtyan mentioned: “We are in the situation of undeclared war, and each such function shows skills level of our armed forces, contributes to the rise of troops’ fighting efficiency”.

He informed that 45 thousand people, almost 5000 arms took part in the exercises which is unprecedented for the armed forces of Armenia. Besides RA AF main staff, the police, rescue service and reserve servicemen also participated in the exercises. Part of the latter participated only 1 day, almost 60% were included in long-term programs.
During the exercises the newest antitank units were used, antitank means and unmanned aircrafts made in Armenia were tested.

Department Head also mentioned that RA AF continue to consider the long-range rocket strikes as priority, and if necessary they can strike the enemy’s economy objects such as gas and oil pipelines and energy resources.
