REPORT TO THE SOCIETY

On the 50th day of his re-assignment as Defense Minister, S.Ohanyan presented the main achievements and blunders of the Defense Ministry in the last 5 years.

According to the Minister, during that period:

– A new culture of strategic planning formed. The next stage will be from 2014-2020.

– Functions of Defense Ministry and General Staff divided.

– Arms and military technology program developed.

– Mobilization resource used in military exercises.

– More attention to the human resources management.

– Military education concept developed.

– Professional sergeants’ institute introduced.

– Corruption risks assessed and mechanisms introduced to minimize them.

– Serious work is done to improve security of combat duty.

– Education process raised on a new level. This proves the joint military exercises and actions in the framework of cooperation with NATO and CSTO.

– Army’s educational-material base perfected.

– Material-technical support put on a high level.

– Control severed on the use of financial and material means.

– Discipline strengthened. In 2008-2011 for almost 40% human losses diminished.
