YOUTH OF DIASPORA – IN THE DEFENSE MINISTRY

On the initiative of “Depi Hayq” (to Armenia) foundation every year many young Armenians come to Armenia from USA, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, etc. In cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, more than 430 young people over three years visited military units of the RA AF, military museum “Mother Armenia” and military pantheon “Yerabloor” (Three Hills).

On July 11 in the administrative complex of RA MoD they were received by Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan. He expressed his satisfaction with this initiative and said that arrived in Armenia youth creates a basis for perspective cooperation:

“Because of the Armenian Genocide the Armenians are spread all over the world. That is very sad but at the same time we should be able to exploit this potential for the development of Armenia. Diaspora Armenians’ contribution is huge, without their efforts we would not have been successful the war and postwar years”. The Minister believes that each Armenian must live in Armenia.

S.Ohanyan introduced the reforms in the Armenian army, too:

“I know that you visited various regiments, talked to the soldiers, and I hope you noticed that the Armenian army is not standing still, day by day it develops and improves. Our nation has 5000 years old history, and if we intend to exist 5000 years more in this region with such neighbours, always an urgent need for us will be to have a strong army”.
