TANK BIATHLON – 2014

From July 26 to August 16 in the Russian Alabino training ground an international competition “Tank biathlon 2014”, World Championship of tank crews will be held. It is the second time that RF armed forces authorities organize such a championship. Together with certain sports component, competition first of all is regarded as an event of combat training, which aim is – to increase the professional training of crews.

Last year there were 4 participants, this year 12 states confirmed their participation. Representatives of these states will compete on Russian tanks T-72B, and only representatives of China and Kuwait will perform on the machines of their armed forces. Specifically for this purpose more than 100 pieces of equipment have been modernized.

It should be noted that there is a fairly broad prospects for development of this competition. According to estimates of the Russian side, in the future it will be a sphere of competition not only for tank crews, but also designers, equipment manufacturers, technical and operational staff.

For the second time RA Armed Forces tank crews will participate in the tank championship. This year 4 crews will present our state. They were chosen after summarizing the results of the all-army competition, which started on June 15.

As senior officer of RA AF GS Combat Training Department Lt. Colonel G.Gevorgyan noted, who is directly involved in the preparatory work, the best 4 crews underwent additional training before leaving for the Russian Federation
