TALYSH PEOPLE – IN THE NAME OF THE INDEPENDENT TALYSHISTAN
Scientific discussions in the Yerevan State University, which were dedicated to living in Turkey ethnic groups of Zaza and Alavi, once again revealed how the Kemal regime managed to pursue a consistent policy of assimilation of these peoples, thereby national, religious and cultural identity of people living in Dersim was almost completely disrupted.
From this point of view much better is the situation of living in Azerbaijan Caucasus Persians (Muslim Tats) and Talysh. The latter, stubbornly resisting, not only were able to preserve their ethnic identity, but also, in the 21st century, combining their national capacity, to make a political statement – full independence from Azerbaijan and the creation of the state Talyshistan.
