COURAGE

On May 25, 2014, in the south direction of the Armenian-Azerbaijani line of contact on the shot of the enemy Colonel Garik Balayan was killed. On the same day soldier Armen Saghyan, ignoring the heavy fire, from the open field took back the body of his commander. The soldier is represented fot the medal “For courage”, which will be presented to him on May 9.

– I’m a soldier, – says Armen. – And every soldier at any moment can find himself in hostilities, under fire. For those living far from the point, my actions may seem brave, but here… You know, after this incident, my love for people, for life has increased. At this point you do not feel the danger, on the contrary, some inexplicable courage appears in your soul, and you do not think about anything else… Our commander never allowed the soldiers to do engineering work in dangerous areas of the positions. He did everything himself. He had probably the hundredth time put his life under danger. For me, this is the courage! Perhaps this time the commander thought that the dark will save him, but it did not help, the bullet found him.

From that day nearly a year has passed, but his voice, the pain on his face show anxiety and suffering of his soul…
