BON VOYAGE AND VICTORIOUS RETURN!

On June 12 in Baku the first European games opened, where our athletes are participating in six sports: boxing, sambo, judo, shooting, taekwondo, and Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling.

At international representation championships, thanks to the excellent performances of military athletes of the Ministry of Defense, the Armenian flag was repeatedly raised and our national anthem sounded. Especially fruitful were March-April, 2015, when soldier-athletes won gold, silver and bronze medals at the European Championships in weightlifting in Georgia, wrestling in Poland, Youth Championship in Serbia, the international gymnastics championship in Qatar. For high performance and for the fact that they raised high the honor of our country and the armed forces, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan awarded athletes military departmental medals, encouraged with valuable gifts.

Among them was ordinary soldier Smbat Margaryan, who won the silver medal at the European Championship in weightlifting among adults in March in Tbilisi and Edik Petrosyan, who won a gold medal at the Junior Championship in sambo in Serbia.

Smbat Margaryan is a double European champion among up to 20-year-olds, the champion, runner-up and bronze medalist of Europe among 23-year-olds, took 3rd place at the first Olympic Games among juniors in Singapore in 2010, 2nd place in the world student Games in Israel in 2011. And he said: “When Minister Ohanyan told me – well done! – it was a great reward for me! “.

And Edick Petrossian is a champion of the RA in sambo, winner of Youth European Championship 2015, the third winner of the world championship among juniors in 2013, 1st and 3rd prize winner of the European championship among juniors.
