Interview with military instructor of 108th school (quarter Silikyan), Colonel Nikolay Avanesyan.

Born in Shahumyan region of NKR. During the war he was deputy of Shahen Mehryan on armament. After the war he served in the RA Defense Ministry’s Logistics department as a senior officer, and in 1996 he joined the Armed Forces General Staff as Head of Division in the Department of the service mode troops.

– In 2001, after the transfer to the reserve, I was offered to teach the subject of basic military training at school, and I gladly agreed. By decision of the Minister of Defence, I was allowed to teach in another school, which is an unprecedented fact. I was already working in the school no.108, when director of the school no.60 Alvard Arakelyan invited me to them, because the discipline in the school was very low. For a while I was able to change the situation.

On Saturday, Sunday classes of Young volunteer-defenders of the country are held.

2 years (2013 and 2014), I am recognised as the best military instructor of the republic. In addition, considering my many years of work, on the order of the Minister of Defence I was given the rank of colonel of the reserve.

I get letters of gratitude, phone calls from military units, where my disciples serve, and I’m very proud of it. These all the letters I have collected and stored. Many of my students chose service in the NKR … This is very important for me, with that I live.

The program of the subject is good, but I would suggest to increase the hours of combatant statute. I wish that all the schools would be provided with training weapons.
