ARMY DAY IN KASHATAGH

On 28 January, on the occasion of Army Day, at the initiative of the administration of Kashatagh region in one of the south-eastern military units, under the command of Colonel Hovik Abrahamyan, a festive event was held.

The unit commander, in his speech recalled the events of 18 December, 2015 when the special forces unit of the Azerbaijani army attempted to invade the area between the positions. Our troops went on the defense fight, but during the melee soldiers of the Army of Defense Aghasi Grigoryan (born in 1996) and Ruben Alexanian (born in 1996) died, four were wounded.

Welcoming speech was also made by the deputy head of administration of Kashatagh region Artush Mkhitaryan, who said that “our army is our pride, and we all have to be stronger, more alert. Support for Armenian army – it is the duty of each of us!”

On behalf of the administration of Kashatagh region deputy commander of the military unit, Lieutenant Colonel D.Avanesyan, Lieutenant Colonel S.Hayrapetyan and other officers were awarded with certificates and gifts.

To ensure the safety of personnel of the military unit, in the summer of last year in the border-controlled portion of military unit voluminous engineering works were carried out, in which Kashatagh region had its significant share. Led by the head of the region Souren Khachatryan, 200 volunteers participated in these work. Co-operation will continue.

After the official part a concert took place by students of secondary schools, art schools, etc.

The deputy commander of the military unit, Colonel S.Hayrapetyan said, «the army without a strong rear will be weak, so these meetings, contacts are very important, and the cooperation between the administration of Kashatagh region and the military unit are very encouraging».
