TRENDS OF DEVELOPMENT OF MILITARY EDUCATION IN RA ARMED FORCES

As part of the reforms development plans of the RA Armed Forces the charter of contract sergeants of military service in the RA Armed Forces was approved and put into effect. Over the past 5 years, hundreds of sergeants on contract were trained and have been appointed in the army, a significant work was carried out towards the enhancement of their role and importance.

To become a contract-sergeant, candidates pass preliminary training on the basis of one of the training military units. Here sergeants of two types are being prepared: squad and platoon leaders.

The aim of this program is to prepare a sergeant, who would help the officer. New sergeant system, thanks to suffixed functions, will be an intermediary between the officers and enlisted personnel. Sergeant, through constant contacts with the soldiers, will be aware of the problems of the soldier and will have a positive impact on the strengthening of discipline.

In parallel with the formation of the RA Armed Forces, the entire system of military schools was formed in a few years, among them: Military Institute after Vazgen Sargsyan, Military Aviation Institute after Marshal A.Khanperyants, Military Medical Faculty of the Yerevan State Medical University, where the training of military doctors is carried out.

If in the first 10 years, the number of officers with military education did not exceed 5%, now their number prevails. Moreover, today, one of the main principles of the personnel policy of the defense system is the rejuvenation of the officers, the completion with officers with higher military and military-professional education.

In order to improve officers’ personnel management system, the “Procedure of certification of higher and senior officers by the Central Attestation Commission of the RA Ministry of Defense” was approved.

In order to achieve academic excellence in military education National University of Defense of the RA Ministry of Defense has an important role. In this new institution, where scientific and educational components will be closely correlated, will operate interagency strategic level training courses, designed for high-level representatives of the state administrative bodies interested in matters of defense and security.
