WHEN YOUR CONSCIENCE IS CLEAR

Or, how is verified the vigilance of combat support points

WHEN YOUR CONSCIENCE IS CLEAR

We are in the Tavush region. Accompanied by the deputy commander on work with personnel Major Vahan Stepanyan we climb up to the positions.

– At the forefront the situation is restless, – says Major Stepanyan. – As the locals say – neither war nor peace. The enemy occasionally fires a variety of weapons. The farmer has already begun spring field work, and we are trying at all costs to maintain at least relative peace, so the peasant had the opportunity to work. In the border areas there is extremely great faith in the soldier who is standing at positions, and the soldier feels stronger, knowing that behind him the farmers are cultivating land.

At the reference point I am introduced to position foreman, senior sergeant Garik Karabaghtsian, contract-serviceman Mher Alikhanyan – participant of Afghan and Artsakh wars, gunner Samson Margaryan whose military service was held in Artsakh, contract sergeant Jivan Aghajanian, who was a conscript during the Artsakh war .

– 25 years of my 41 years of my life I spent in Russia, – says Jivan of Voskanapat. – When I reached military age, I came to Armenia, joined the army, served in Artsakh. After the service, again I went to Russia, to my parents. I got married and I have two children. When the tension on the border reached its climax, I bought a ticket and flew to Armenia. In the recruiting office I asked to send me there, where the situation is very tense. And now, almost two years I am on a contract service in this military unit. You can not imagine how my conscience is clear!
