MIRACULOUS RESURRECTION-SUNDAY: CELEBRATION OF LOVE AND HUMILITY

For 900 years, on the Thursday before Easter, the Armenian Apostolic Church after morning services conducts Penance and the Holy Liturgy, followed by a ceremony of “Footwashing”, which is carried out in the afternoon.

On March 24, “Footwashing” ceremony also was held in Surb Khach (Holy Cross) Church of Shengavit district of Yerevan. At this time, on the holy tabernacle came up not children, but the officers and conscripts of the national army, and the ritual was conducted by spiritual leader of the RA Armed Forces Vrtanes Bishop Abrahamyan.

After the ceremony, the bishop said that if this ritual was performed for all the soldiers of the army, the church leaders would have done it with humility and love, thus expressing their respect for the defenders of the fatherland.

On Sunday, on March 27, as in all churches of the republic, in Yerevan churches of St.Anna and St. Holy Mother the solemn Easter Mass also was held in honor of the Radiant Resurrection of Christ, which was conducted by pastor of St.Anna Church of Ararat Diocese Priest Avedis Danielyan. The Mass was also attended by officers and soldiers of the military unit after  Andranik Ozanian.

After Mass the high Easter mood was continued in the church yard…
