RELIABLE AND SAVING MILITARY TRANSPORTATION

On 1 Ocotber 1992, the Military Transportation Division was established in the Armed Forces General Staff. It is a structural unit that provides organization and planning of military transportation by rail and air during peace and war times. The use of the railway for the transportation of personnel and armaments significantly reduces the time needed for transportation, extends the life span of heavy equipment, saving fuel for self-propelled movement.

The Military Transportation Division participates in the planning and organization of all types of military transportation by rail, overseeing the correct, purposeful and rational use of rolling stock and other means. Supervision is also provided for the maintenance and use of loading and unloading sites and equipment for troops and military cargoes. The personnel of the unit are responsible for training and maintaining the safety of troops transported by rail, ensuring the safety of military echelons and vehicles during traffic.

The Military Transportation Division has developed and manufactured a new type of metal multipurpose fasteners that are safer, accelerate loading and unloading, and reduce annual costs. Metal fasteners also exclude hardware bouncing.

At present, the division has been restructured into a service and continues to ensure the safety and efficiency of military transportation.
