LOVE AND SECRET SERVICE

Gohar Vardanyan-Pahlevanyan, the widow of secret service legend Gevorg Vardanyan, could be considered as one of the prominent women of today. A woman who shared with her husband the difficult, complicated, dangerous life of the agent during almost a half century, bringing glory to her homeland and Armenian women.

Gohar Pahlevanyan was the only woman of the secret group «Light Cavalry», which was acting in Tehran during the 2nd World War. And here in 1942 she meets her future husband – group leader Gevorg Vardanyan. The wedding ceremony was held in one of the Armenian churches in Tehran in 1946.

Vardanyan couple’s activity is an example of perfect work. Working in many countries, they did not allow a single slip. Let’s recall G.Vardanyan’s words: «Secret service is not a romance but the most efficient and effective means to serve homeland. It is the place for the selfless and courageous people. And it is impossible not to fall in love with it».

For her invaluable services to the motherland Gohar Levon Vardanyan was awarded with the highest award of the USSR – Order of the Red Banner.
