“BLACK AND GREEN” PLAGUE: FROM ALEPPO TO PARIS
Islamic extremism, as both religious and political force, in the beginning was aimed at fighting against the expansion of the spheres of influence of the superpowers in the name of independence of Muslim countries, but year after year it has changed dramatically and at this stage it is used by the same superpowers to clarify the relationship between themselves.
Cooperation of Saudi Arabia and Qatar with the United States has become an important factor which is able to change the geopolitical atmosphere not only in the Middle East, but also in the entire Eurasian continent.
Thanks to the Saudi-American cooperation, in 2011 the “Arabian Spring” revolutions broke out in the Middle East – Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt. With effective participation of NATO the regime of Muammar Gaddafi was ousted in Libya.
“Arabian Spring” suffered a defeat only in Syria, where the administration of President Bashar al-Assad, with the support of Russia, China and Iran, managed to prevent intervention. In Egypt, the power of extremist Islamists was overthrown by a military coup.
Since 2014 Iran has started to regain its important role in the Middle East, who with several Arab countries reached Moscow. Sensing the growing role of Iran in the region, Obama tried to restore diplomatic relations with this country.
The year of 2014 also stated that the mission carried out by the US and NATO forces in Afghanistan crashed.
After the collapse of the “Arabian Spring”, with the aim of controlling the situation in the Middle East, in the spring of 2014 Washington allowed the proclamation of the Islamic Caliphate by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant – ISIS.
After the massacre in the French newspaper publishing-house, the ridge of anti-Islamic wave was broken in Russia, where there was an attempt to raise the country’s Muslims’ protest rallies. Publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad was severely criticized by the leaders of the Russian Orthodox Church and other religious communities.
In fact, an attempt is made to solve economic and political problems, by all means using religion. Fortunately, the boat of religious tolerance yet is firm, but its pitching can lead to great tragedy. At the same time against the “black-green” plague of Islam began to fight directly just in Islamic society, and this is encouraging.
