Until 2011 Mine Action Programme in the territory of the Republic of Armenia was carried out by means and efforts of appropriate services and units of the armed forces of Armenia. According to the Agreement, signed in 2002 between the RA Defense Ministry and USA Defense Department, Mine Action Centre was established. Already in 2003 demining work began in different parts of the country. In 2006 the process has slowed down. And, in 2011 by the decision of the Government of Armenia, it received a civil orientation and has been given more attention.

How the Azerbaijani Republic authorities “respect” the rights of indigenous peoples? According to various calculations, now AR is home to about 2,5 million Talyshs (officially – 112 thousand), about 1 million Lezgins (officially – 180 300), about 400 thousand Avars (officially – 49800), etc.

Today in our country, the army is the most organized, the most established structure. Now Azerbaijan has a new tactics, it discredits Armenia in front of the international community speaking about Armenia’s difficult economic situation, poverty, migration. However all know that on the issues of democracy and human rights protection Azerbaijan cannot be compared with Armenia, more over – with Karabakh. Armenia and Karabakh with all their shortcomings are thousand times closer to the model of democratic states than Azerbaijan, where Aliyev is a president till the end of his life, where there are political prisoners.

Tomorrow here, in this same hall a document will be adopted that will be related to the security of my people and peace in our region. There are two options. Either it will adopt the language of the OSCE Minsk Group, which is the only specialized international structure dealing with the Nagorno Karabakh problem, a language that was proposed and supported by the Co-Chair countries that are represented here by France and the United States of America, or upon the lobbying of another member State it will pass again with an aim to save the face of our tyrant neighbor vis-a-vis his own people. Believe me it will not lead to any positive results. Either common sense and a desire for peace must be tantamount otherwise xenophobia will deepen as will the war rhetoric and deadly provocations provoked by Azerbaijan.

From July 26 to August 16 in the Russian Alabino training ground an international competition “Tank biathlon 2014”, World Championship of tank crews will be held. It is the second time that RF armed forces authorities organize such a championship. Together with certain sports component, competition first of all is regarded as an event of combat training, which aim is – to increase the professional training of crews.
