Dear compatriots, your sons are my soldiers, my sons! I assure you that they are in safe hands. We do everything that they always be healthy, study well and become high-level specialists. Admitting each group of recruits I personally have a talk with them, observe their medical card and Identification Card. Afterwards we send them to the medical point where our doctors investigate them once more. After that they get military equipment, and acquaintance with the regiment starts. Other commanders also talk to the newcomers. We try to know more about their families. Our officers, sergeants are experienced, attentive and careful.

In the Military Institute after V.Sargsyan 3-month qualification courses for 62 officers of RA AF concluded. On December 15th Defense Minister S.Ohanyan met with them. He welcomed the idea of the organization of such courses and emphasized their importance in raising the level of the armed forces officers’ staff. He added that such courses would have permanent basis.

On December 17th the discussion of the book “Strengthening of good behaviour and lessening of corruption in the defense sphere” was held. The book was translated into Armenian with the support of the OSCE Yerevan office. It was introduced by Dr. Philip Flourie, Deputy Director of Armed Forces Democratic Control Centre in Geneva who was in Armenia on a working visit.

In December 2012 RA AF will conduct conscription of the first group of reserve doctors – 94 doctors-officers till the age of 35. As Defense Minister S.Ohanyan mentioned, officers of the first group who have completed Ph.D. course or have scientific degrees are conscripted according to their specializations.

On December 5th during the opening ceremony of newly-erected buildings of one of the divisions of AAD regiment under the command of Colonel S.Grigoryan, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan mentioned that AAD troops are exemplary subunits of the national army. The next day final exams of a division (which is recognized as the best in that regiment) under the command of Lt.Colonel V.Hakobyan were conducted, and we were convinced once more that the Minister’s evaluation is fully well-grounded. Examination commission was headed by Deputy Commander Lt.Colonel M.Vardanyan.

RA armed forces Military-Topographic service was created in September, 1992, its first head was Colonel A.Azizyan. On November 28th the first map was published. In the first years the structure’s aim was to support with topographic maps our troops in war. The first stage of its activity (1992-96) I would describe as formation period. That time we used also the potential of the Institute of Geodesy & Cartography. Owing to brilliant specialists (Captains Youra Varyan, Smbat Davtyan, ensign Lydia Grechukha) and proper organization, the structure was able to fulfill the tasks put by – to support army with topography maps, to investigate localities, renew maps, make locality models.

Final exams, which started in the end of November in the regiments, continue. In some places the process has already completed and additional trainings are being conducted to remove imperfections on the order of military unit commander Major General Kamo Qochunts.
