National army
Recently inspections were done under the direction of RA AF GS Deputy Head Lt. General Valeriy Grigoryan in some regiments which are under the authority of the military unit under the command of Major General Kamo Aghajanyan.
Though the Armenian nation has big services in creation and development of USSR Air Forces, nevertheless after the collapse of the empire Armenia got almost nothing. That’s why the Armenian specialists began to develop their own arms. They got helicopters and planes, set up a school for pilots and specialists preparation – Flight College. The first representatives of the newly created regiments participated in military operations and had their own merit in the defense of our country’s borders.
During the war Martakert district a few times passed from one side to the other and finally was liberated on July 23, 1992. Today the dangerous section of Azerbaijan-NKR border passes through Martakert which is under the control of the regiment headed by Colonel S.Grigoryan. On the front line are the soldiers of Major G.Manoukyan’s battalion.
Accompanied by Deputy Head dealing with staff Lt. Colonel A.Toumanyan and battalion commander S.Titanyan (of the regiment headed by Colonel A.Ohanyan) we go to the operational base stations.
Just the first station impressed us. The shelter was firm, clean, clear and equipped according to the modern requests. There were sleeping dining rooms, kitchen, armoury and other conveniences which are necessary for full-fledged service. A big consideration is given for keeping soldiers’ food.
On regiment Commander Colonel S.Grigoryan’s car we move to the front line. The car is full of soft drinks.
-I can’t go there empty-handed, it’s become a habit, – says the Colonel.
There are defensive installations everywhere.
-Are they shooting?
-Every day and a lot. We request our soldiers to maintain service discipline, resist provocations, not to shoot if not necessary, – explains regiment Commandeer.
Motorised infantry regiment under the command of Lt. Colonel G.Tevosyan was recognized as the best according to the results of operational readiness for 2011 training year and was awarded with challenge flag of honour.
NKR Minister of Defense, AD Commander, Lieutenant General Movses Hakobyan told: “When planning the next training year, AD first of all considers enemy’s probable actions character which includes not only defense actions planning but also their engineering support planning, first line and defensive belt equipment, acquisition of material-technical means and most important – staff’s high level training.
