On the 1st of February in the concert hall after Arno Babajanyan a cultural program was held dedicated to the memory of perished soldiers of the national army. The organizer and initiator of the program was servicemen’s widows “Yerashkhavor” NGO with the assistance of Armenia’s First Lady Mrs.Rita Sargsyan and RA Defense Ministry.

In the 1st army corps festivities were held on the occasion of the Army Day where schoolchildren and their teachers, local governance bodies, NGOs, people of the region took part. Open classes, memory evenings, film shows on Artsakh war, sports functions and competitions, concerts, excursions were conducted. Really the festivities were of public nature.

On the Armenian Army Day Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan during the meeting with the journalists informed that the main direction of reforms in the Armenian Army is the transition to strategic planning. He told also that the army increases its potential by acquiring armaments and defense technology.

Lance sergeant Roubick Mikayelyan, account commander of the regiment after Armenian Tamanian Division, is one of the 9 Armenian men whose personal achievements are registered in the Guinness Book of Records.
Roubik who is a sambo wrestler and was called up for military service last spring after graduating from the State Institute of Physical Training, on September 21, 2011, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of independence of RA, in the lying position did 6500 abdomen presses. On January 28th, the day of 20th anniversary of formation of the national army, he surpassed his record and in 4 hours 35 minutes did 7550 presses.

According to 2011 results the best among the educational regiments the third year running is recognized the artillery regiment under the command of Colonel A.Haroutyunyan. This is an unprecedented success in the national army: after the third time the passing banner of honour will remain in the regiment.

On January 24th a festive concert was held at the Military Institute after Vazgen Sargsyan on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the national army. Famous Armenian variety performers performed in front of the students and guests of honour executing military-patriotic songs and dances.
In the function’s second part a documentary film about the formation of the national army was screened prepared by the RA MOD Information and PR Department.

Recently in the regiment headed by Colonel A.Haroutyounov trainings on «Actions during combat alert» were conducted. Personal staff with combat technology came out into the landing zone. In a filed conditions medical station, rear management point and commander’s point were expanded.
