Gohar Vardanyan-Pahlevanyan, the widow of secret service legend Gevorg Vardanyan, could be considered as one of the prominent women of today. A woman who shared with her husband the difficult, complicated, dangerous life of the agent during almost a half century, bringing glory to her homeland and Armenian women.
Recently in the army corpus under the command of Colonel Tigran Parvanyan a consultation was held headed by Defense Minister S.Ohanyan. RA AF GS Head, Colonel General Yu.Khachaturov, Minister’s deputies, GS Head’s deputies, commanders of army corpuses and other sub-units were present.
Artillery training regiment is the only one in the national army that 5 consecutive years wins “the best” title and is being awarded with the banner of honour. According to the existing procedure in case of 3 consecutive successes the banner of honour gets its permanent registration in that same regiment. The thrust and hardworking staff fights for the second banner.
Regiment’s Commander Alexander Petrosyan says that “to become the first – it is not easy, since the other training regiments are also working very well, and we reached success in serious competition conditions”.
We are in the peace-keeping brigade under the command of Major General Arthur Simonyan. Among the servicemen he mentioned Avag Kurdiyan who has been serving in the infantry battalion since 2011, in 2013 with the army grouping he was in Afghanistan ensuring security of Kunduz airport.

On February 17 legendary Soviet SSA Gevorg Vardanyan would have been 90. He is the only SSA of the USSR who got the Golden Star of the Soviet Union’s Hero not during war-time, and during his life-time.
Artsakh war participant, rewarded with combat awards, Colonel of police Alexander Sargsyan has written a text-book “Psychological tasks of military intelligence service”.
The book is based on his war experience. In the foreword the author says that despite the fact that modern armed forces are being equipped with the newest technology and equipment, however one should not underestimate the human factor because combat operation’s success most dependent on it.
