It is very seldom in the Armed Forces when in the arms a regiment 4 times is being recognized as the best. This is about the regiment under the command of Colonel A.Harutyunyan. The division under the command of Lt.Colonel A.Qochunts for the second time in the regiment was recognized as the best.

In the end of the 1st educational stage of 2012, accepting the command of the engineering-sapper regiment, Colonel A.Ghazaryan managed to make positive changes, and as a result the regiment twice was recognized the best.

4 years ago Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan presented a bottle of cognac to each reagiment commander as a symbolic gift and told to open it when they’ll be satisfied with their work. And commander of one of the aviation regiments Colonel S.Sianosyan decided to open cognac bottle when his regiment will become the best in the aviation.

The main task of 2012 was the final program on formation of National Defense University. This process started yet in 2003-04 when Institute Head Major General Hayk Kotanjyan was on an internship in USA National Defense University. Our Defense University would have two parts – research and educational. The main part of the research part would be our Institute’s analytical centre. Two more centres would be formed – strategic educational centre and national centre of cyber-security.

Dear compatriots, your sons are my soldiers, my sons! I assure you that they are in safe hands. We do everything that they always be healthy, study well and become high-level specialists. Admitting each group of recruits I personally have a talk with them, observe their medical card and Identification Card. Afterwards we send them to the medical point where our doctors investigate them once more. After that they get military equipment, and acquaintance with the regiment starts. Other commanders also talk to the newcomers. We try to know more about their families. Our officers, sergeants are experienced, attentive and careful.

In the Military Institute after V.Sargsyan 3-month qualification courses for 62 officers of RA AF concluded. On December 15th Defense Minister S.Ohanyan met with them. He welcomed the idea of the organization of such courses and emphasized their importance in raising the level of the armed forces officers’ staff. He added that such courses would have permanent basis.

On December 17th the discussion of the book “Strengthening of good behaviour and lessening of corruption in the defense sphere” was held. The book was translated into Armenian with the support of the OSCE Yerevan office. It was introduced by Dr. Philip Flourie, Deputy Director of Armed Forces Democratic Control Centre in Geneva who was in Armenia on a working visit.
