In October 1992, the Sparapet (Commander-in-Chief) called on Armenians to send 500 “mahapart” (diehard) people to save the homeland, meaning 500 patriotic, courageous and dedicated people who would risk their lives to fight at the hottest spots of the war…Today, we need “mahapart” (diehard) intellectuals that will enter the Temple and say ‘Don’t turn my Father’s home into a trade house…’
Though the Armenian nation has big services in creation and development of USSR Air Forces, nevertheless after the collapse of the empire Armenia got almost nothing. That’s why the Armenian specialists began to develop their own arms. They got helicopters and planes, set up a school for pilots and specialists preparation – Flight College. During the war Martakert district a few times passed from one side to the other and finally was liberated on July 23, 1992. On the front line are the soldiers of Major G.Manoukyan’s battalion.
Kurds settled in the Armenian lands in 1940-50s. They haven’t built anything, they live in the houses of the Armenians built 100 years ago. They destroy our churches, forts hoping to find gold.

On regiment Commander Colonel S.Grigoryan’s car we move to the front line. The car is full of soft drinks.
-I can’t go there empty-handed, it’s become a habit, – says the Colonel.
