On 19 March, the annual operational gathering of the RA Armed Forces leadership kicked off at the MOD RA administrative complex. On 21 March, in the framework of the gathering, at the meeting chaired by the First Deputy Defense Minister Artak Zakaryan, Lieutenant General Hayk Kotanjian, Founding Head, National Defense Research University, Doctor of Political Science, Professor, delivered a report-lecture.

On 7 March, the US Air War College delegation visited the National Defense Research University, MOD, RA. The visit was targeted at obtaining a more clear view of the security environment and challenges in the South Caucasus, as well as of the defense cooperation with the US.

On the initiative of the National Defense Research University, MOD, RA, from December 9 to 12, Prof. Paolo Cotta-Ramusino, Secretary General of Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs international movement—an international network of scientists concerned about peace and international security, and Prof. Alexander Nikitin, Doctor of Political Science, Elected Member of Pugwash Council, Director of the MGIMO Center for Euro-Atlantic Security, MFA, RF, President Emeritus of the Russian Political Science Association (RPSA), made a visit to Armenia.

On November 18, 2017 the closing ceremony of the intra-agency executive education pilot course “The RA Defense System Reforms Strategic Guidelines” was held at the National Defense Research University (NDRU). The course was launched at the NDRU on October 23, and finished on November 17.
