On July 12 at Vayots Dzor district-centre the 17th anniversary of the 4th Army Corps was solemnly celebrated. Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, Head of AF GS Colonel General Youriy Khachaturov, other high-ranking officers were present.
Minister Ohanyan welcomed the participants, after him Army Corps Commander, Major General Andranik Makaryan made an introductory statement and presented the Corps’ traversed path and achievements.

On the initiative of “Depi Hayq” (to Armenia) foundation every year many young Armenians come to Armenia from USA, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, etc. In cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, more than 430 young people over three years visited military units of the RA AF, military museum “Mother Armenia” and military pantheon “Yerabloor” (Three Hills).

In the Military Institute after Vazgen Sargsyan a specialized auditorium of Armenian language was opened in the General sciences and foreign languages department. This auditorium is distinguished by its originality and unique design form other auditoria of English, Russian, German, Persian, Greek, French languages.

In the military unit under the command of Lieutenant Colonel R.Shahgeldyan head of Sergeants Council is Sergeant Gevorg Sargsyan. Last August he was elected on this post, and in the beginning of this educational year he was reelected. He is an artillerist.

Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, his 1st Deputy Davit Tonoyan, other high-ranking officers look at the newly renovated and modernized military grounds which is equipped with modern buildings designed for training in fire and tactical training.
After cutting the red tape, the Minister congratulated participants and emphasized that it is just during the learning process are the main qualities formed that are needed today for defenders of Fatherland.

Ultimately, the main aim of all those programs – preservation and rehabilitation of our servicemen’s health. I also attach a great importance to information and propaganda activity. The people must know military doctors standing shoulder to shoulder with soldiers in the front line, doctors who are soldiers at the same time. Those doctors who saved thousands of soldiers in the Karabakh war, who performed uniques surgery in the open air, today with the same dedication do their sacred duty. It is imperative to give their due, to inspire them.

On July 7th RA Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan paid a working visit to military units and combat support points located in the North-East region of Armenia.
The Minister got acquainted with service conditions at combat support points, looked at capital construction works in the regiments, talked to servicemen, listened to the problems, encouraged the most distinguished and disciplined servicemen. Commanders of the military units were given appropriate instructions, they were instructed to quickly eliminate registered omissions.
During his visit the Defense Minister discussed the operational situation in the border line with the command of the Army Corps.
