In 1995, we were in Artsakh to perform in front of soldiers with the Alaverdi band “Lazur” (we had been there during the war). We gave concerts in all defense districts for about 10 days. For the last two days we performed in the military units of the 5th Defense District.
The conscription is underway in Armenia, a conscription after the war. We are in the Central Conscription Facility, many of the boys have relatives and friends who took part in the war.
Recently, an exhibition dedicated to the Armenian soldiers was held at the Union of Artists of Armenia on the occasion of the St. Vardanants and St. Ghevondants holidays.
My interlocutors are some of the paramedics in the field hospital, the fighters of our “white” army, whose work is beyond all appreciation. During the war, they were the first to evacuate the wounded from the battlefield to the field hospital for first aid.
The work of properly welcoming conscripts in military units started weeks before the conscription. In the military units under the command of Maj Gen Jirayr Poghosyan, everything is ready for the proper reception of the recruits. The barracks are furnished, the classrooms are equipped with educational posters and didactic materials.
Various media outlets covered the feats of the platoon led by Sen Lt Margar Saribekyan during the war. The lion boys and the commander are modestly silent about their heroism, instead their comrades-in-arms speak, even the enemy speaks.
