On the occasion of International Students Day on November 16th the Yerevan State University welcomed Defense Minister S.Ohanyan. Before the meeting with students the Minister accompanied by YSU Rector Aram Simonyan took part in the opening ceremony of the auditoria named after perished fighters of Artsakh war – YSU Law faculty students Ara Avanesyan, Eduard Avagyan, Sargis Khojoyan and Tigran Petrosyan. The fighters’ relatives were also present.
“With the memories of 20-year-old heroic path, feeling of national pride, firm belief in future victories… and with hope that 20-year chronicle of the Armenian army will become a source of inspiration for numerous patriot progeny”, – with this message starts the book of Artsakh Hero, RA Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan “Chronicle of Armenian Army’s 20 years”. This is memories of a soldier about the passed way of the armed forces who stood in the origins of the national army and had a basic role in its formation and establishment.
In Matenadaran – Institute of Ancient Manuscripts after Mesrop Mashtots historian-museologist Rafael Tadevosyan’s book “Parts of Armenian Military History (19-20cent.)” and 17 military-historical maps (from the 1826-28 Russian-Persian war till Shoushi liberation) presentation was held. High-ranking militarymen, historians, former Artsakh war fighters, teachers, students were present on the presentation.
If there is a malfunctioning we quickly come to know about that and immediately eliminate it. I’d say also that our domestic arms production develops rapidly the last years, and our AF are enriched with arms, military technology and ammunition including modern ones.
Members of the Public Council adjacent to the Defense Minister headed by Gegham Harutyunyan visited some eastern frontier regiments from October 31 to November 4. G.Harutyunyan tells:
– The visit was introductory. On September 14 a new Public Council was formed, from 15 members 9 are new. Naturally, for their effective work it is essential to visit the regiments. We visited regiments, hospitals, met commanders, servicemen, saw their social-living conditions. By the way, there is improvement in this sphere. New quarters, bath-houses, WC and other objects have been brought into operation.
In the framework of Abovyan State Pedagogical University’s 90th anniversary the Students Council’s members headed by Volodya Gasparyan and on the initiative of Psychology and Sociology Faculty Deputy Dean, c.p.s. Hakob Tadevosyan on November 10 visited one of the Tavush district’s frontier regiments. The students organized a cultural program for the servicemen. This visit was important and introductory for the students who study military pedagogy and psychology.
In the Internet I paid attention to one photo: an old woman hugs a young man in a military uniform. In the bottom it was written: “Azeri grandma and Armenian fighter”. I sent this photo through the net and asked people to give me some information about this photo. Istanbul University teacher Alber Keshish reacted. He told me that the soldier is his classmate – Sargis Hatspanyan, Artsakh war participant.
