In the last 5 years Armenian Armed Forces obtained more armaments than in previous 15 years. This was announced by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan in Ijevan city during the discussion of the Armenian Republican Party’s election program with intelligentsia representatives.
“In the last years we increased our fighting efficiency and with this forced the enemy to peace”, – told Tigran Sargsyan.
In Stepanakert, capital of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic a newly built area and a street will be named after Artsakh Liberation War participant Major General Anatoliy Zinevich who has a big contribution in building of the national army of Armenia and NKR. On the new street the bust of the General will be situated.
The regiment headed by Colonel A.Petrosyan is a reliable bridge which unites the rear with the front line, guarantees uninterrupted activity of units. All the activities – trainings etc. are realized by this unit. For fulfillment of plan works and commands the regiment was recognized as the best in its category in 2011 and the third time in 4 years is awarded with flag of honour.
On February 24th in the RA National Assembly Defence, National Security and Home Affairs Permanent Commission headed by H.Karapetyan the project law on making amendments in the RA Law “On Military Service” was discussed. The aim of the law is to expand the contract sergeants system in the RA AF, develop military education system, ensure transparency in designation and removal process of servicemen, elucidate promotion possibilities, strengthen the discipline.
On February 26th a group of Pedagogical University students visited one of the regiments in Tavoush district (marz) in connection with the 20th anniversary of the Armenian Army. The commanders and soldiers met the students in the regiment. Deputy Commander Lieutenant Colonel E.Hovanisyan introduced the students with the history of the regiment’s formation and its activities.
On February 18th the international conference on “NKR Independence 20th anniversary: Realities and Perspectives” was completed in Stepanakert. Among the speakers was Historical Sciences Doctor, RA NAS corresponding member Nikolay Hovanisyan who spoke on “NK State Doctrine Evolution”.
On February 21st the Armenian peacekeepers’ recurrent shift returned to Armenia from Afghanistan. According to Peacekeepers Brigade Commander Major General Arthur Simonyan, all the 40 participants of the mission were awarded with NATO medals. The German Command, as in the previous years, is very satisfied with the Armenian servicemen’s service.
