Recently commander of the air defense of Azerbaijani Armed Forces, Major General Altay Mehdiyev has been dismissed from the service. He is one of the most famous high-ranking military of Azerbaijan, participant of the Karabakh war. Perhaps the main reason for the dismissal of General was his national identity.

On January 27 Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan summed up the 2014 army year. Besides journalists, military attaches of foreign diplomatic missions, high-ranking militarymen, guests were present on the press-conference.
As expected, the Minister highlighted the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, noting that the systematic violation of the ceasefire, the organization of sabotage, Armenophobia grafting his own people and vile falsification of obvious facts from the Azerbaijani side is a destabilizing factor in the safety of the South Caucasus and in the region.

In comparison with 2013, the number of reported cases of the enemy increased by 16, reaching from 6 to 22. I’ll note that in the central office of the Military Police five working groups have formed that regularly visit military units to check on-site the service of military police and the effectiveness of cooperation with commanders of military units.

Islamic extremism, as both religious and political force, in the beginning was aimed at fighting against the expansion of the spheres of influence of the superpowers in the name of independence of Muslim countries, but year after year it has changed dramatically and at this stage it is used by the same superpowers to clarify the relationship between themselves.

It is already the second month, that “Talyshistan National Television” is aired. 15 TV shows that have made an action of a bomb explosion in Azerbaijan. Today, Azerbaijan is facing a dilemma: to react to it, which is tantamount to adding fuel to the fire, or pretend that nothing is happening, but that is not possible, too?

Thus, violations, compared with last year, decreased by 50%, by 60% reduced incidents of hazing, by 80% – cases of self-mutilation. Last year, the military unit was inspected by the Chief Military Inspectorate and received a “satisfactory” rating.
