The Armenian man won the war, saving his lands at the cost of his blood and life. People raised an army. They raised a strong and a powerful army which preserved the achievements of war, guaranteed independent statehood and the victory of people. By the way I have had a chance to be in the army for a few days, to see how people seek to secure the power and the safety of the country. The glory and the honour are theirs. They do their work well. I wish the modern culture and the Armenian artist had as many achievements as the Armenian army and the Armenian soldier.

According to 2011 results the best among the educational regiments the third year running is recognized the artillery regiment under the command of Colonel A.Haroutyunyan. This is an unprecedented success in the national army: after the third time the passing banner of honour will remain in the regiment.

In the framework of functions dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the national army, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan met with the Armenia Veterans’ Union members, congratulated with the Army’s jubilee and presented with awards the veterans and servicemen.

On January 24th RA Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan visited the European Regional Academy, met with the students and professors-teachers staff. In his speech the Minister said: “The military-patriotic upbringing of youth is part of the military potential of any state together with the economic and military power.

Fatal outcome incidents in the national army decreased for 33,3% in 2011 compared to 2010. In figures it is 36 incidents in 2011 vs 54 in 2010. RA Judge Advocate Gevorg Kostanyan informed about this during the joint press-conference with Major General Armen Haroutyunyan, Head of RA MOD Investigating Service.

On January 24th a festive concert was held at the Military Institute after Vazgen Sargsyan on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the national army. Famous Armenian variety performers performed in front of the students and guests of honour executing military-patriotic songs and dances.
In the function’s second part a documentary film about the formation of the national army was screened prepared by the RA MOD Information and PR Department.

On January 16th NKR Defense Minister, Defense Army Commander, Lieutenant General Movses Hakobyan received OSCE Chairman’s Personal Representative Anjey Kasprjik. During the meeting the operative situation on the Armenian-Azeri contact zone and perspectives of further cooperation were discussed.
