RA armed forces Military-Topographic service was created in September, 1992, its first head was Colonel A.Azizyan. On November 28th the first map was published. In the first years the structure’s aim was to support with topographic maps our troops in war. The first stage of its activity (1992-96) I would describe as formation period. That time we used also the potential of the Institute of Geodesy & Cartography. Owing to brilliant specialists (Captains Youra Varyan, Smbat Davtyan, ensign Lydia Grechukha) and proper organization, the structure was able to fulfill the tasks put by – to support army with topography maps, to investigate localities, renew maps, make locality models.

Final exams, which started in the end of November in the regiments, continue. In some places the process has already completed and additional trainings are being conducted to remove imperfections on the order of military unit commander Major General Kamo Qochunts.

The delegation headed by Seyran Ohnayan, Defense Minister was on a two-day working visit in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
On November 26, Seyran Ohanyan met with the leadership of ISAF at its headquarters in Kabul. British Lieutenant-General Nick Carter, Deputy Commander of ISAF highly appreciated Armenia’s contribution to the establishment of security and stability in Afghanistan, expressing his gratitude to Armenian peacekeepers for their professionalism and commitment to mission goals.

It is intended to build churches in all the regiments to fulfill spiritual requirements of the servicemen. This process has already started. On December 1st in the Military Institute after V.Sargsyan church foundation’s consecration ceremony was held which was conducted by RA AF spiritual head Vrtanes Bishop Abrahamyan.

The book’s authors are scholars, S.Lornejad from USA and A.Doostzadeh from Canada. In this monography they analyze how incorrectly the Azeris comment on the literary heritage of prominent Medieval Persian poet Nizami Gyanjavi. This started in 1930-s in the Soviet Union after the functions dedicated to the 800-th anniversary of Nizami. They even “found” and published so called “Nizami Gyanjavi’s Turkish Collection”. Falsifiers doctored of poems in Turkish language to the Persian poet whereas in his rich literary heritage even with a loupe you can’t find a single line in Turkish or other dialect.

In the national army the final exams session has started. Committees of Defense Ministry and General Staff, military units and regiments assess the regiments’ operational training level. Looking back to the 2012 education process, military exercises and trainings, we can say with certainty that this year was rather effective in strengthening of troops’ battle efficiency. Yet in spring all the regiments conducted field trainings. Afterwards military exercises of CSTO Collective Forces of Operative Reaction were conducted in the firing grounds of Defense Ministry. Subsequently staff-command strategic all-army trainings were conducted.
