On the order of the Defense Minister the last Sunday of June will be observed as Military Sports Day in the RA Armed Forces. On June 24, Sunday, in the RA MOD administrative complex the Military Sports Day was solemnly observed for the first time. Congratulating function’s participants Minister Seyran Ohanyan said:
From June 4 to 9 in the regiment which was awarded with medal “Vardan Mamikonyan” exams were conducted to check sub-units’ knowledge and skills. Regiment’s skillful commander Colonel Sedrak Sedrakyan is sure that the accounts and staff are combat-ready and will get a high mark.
Colonel S.Grigoryan shows and explains – from the multilayer defense lines which one is specified for which purpose. There is such an impression that even in case of enemy’s sudden attack he will not be able to reach a serious result.
Recently inspections were done under the direction of RA AF GS Deputy Head Lt. General Valeriy Grigoryan in some regiments which are under the authority of the military unit under the command of Major General Kamo Aghajanyan.
In October 1992, the Sparapet (Commander-in-Chief) called on Armenians to send 500 “mahapart” (diehard) people to save the homeland, meaning 500 patriotic, courageous and dedicated people who would risk their lives to fight at the hottest spots of the war…Today, we need “mahapart” (diehard) intellectuals that will enter the Temple and say ‘Don’t turn my Father’s home into a trade house…’
Though the Armenian nation has big services in creation and development of USSR Air Forces, nevertheless after the collapse of the empire Armenia got almost nothing. That’s why the Armenian specialists began to develop their own arms. They got helicopters and planes, set up a school for pilots and specialists preparation – Flight College. The first representatives of the newly created regiments participated in military operations and had their own merit in the defense of our country’s borders.
During the war Martakert district a few times passed from one side to the other and finally was liberated on July 23, 1992. Today the dangerous section of Azerbaijan-NKR border passes through Martakert which is under the control of the regiment headed by Colonel S.Grigoryan. On the front line are the soldiers of Major G.Manoukyan’s battalion.
